Firmas para reforma LA REFORMA INTEGRAL A LA LEY FEDERAL DE RADIO Y TELEVISIN

Firmas reforma LFRT: "LA REFORMA INTEGRAL A LA LEY FEDERAL DE RADIO Y TELEVISION

Jan 27, 2005 8:00 AM, News Technology Update e-newsletter

ABC News Now´s Bob Woodruff introduces viewers to use of video cell phones for news gathering during the inaugural parade in Washington, D.C. Photo courtesy ABC News Now.

ABC News Now relied on ordinary people equipped with Sprint PCS Vision Video Phones to augment its coverage of the 2005 inauguration of President George W. Bush.
Working with Sprint PCS, ABC News Now equipped about two dozen inauguration parade participants with video-capable cell phones to contribute first-hand accounts of the festivities from street level.
While the news service relied on ABC anchors and correspondents stationed throughout the parade route for its primary coverage, at least 5 percent to 10 percent of the material originated from the video-cell-phone-carrying everyman journalist.
Prior to the parade, each cell phone´s address book was preprogrammed with a phone number at ABC News Now. After capturing a clip which couldn´t exceed 15 seconds, the upper limit of the cell phone´s memory users phoned in their video files."

NASB to Host DRM in Mexico City

IBOC Update Jan. 26, 2005: "NASB to Host DRM in Mexico City
The National Association of Shortwave Broadcasters (NASB) will be hosting a DRM symposium along with the High Frequency Coordination Conference (HFCC) in Mexico City, Feb. 7-11. The HFCC coordinates the transmission schedules of about 60 organizations worldwide, and promotes the efficient and economical use of HF broadcast spectrum worldwide.
The upcoming HFCC is a biannual event that provides an opportunity for representatives of world broadcasting organizations and the Mexican government to learn more about DRM specifications for IBOC digital broadcasting on frequencies formerly reserved for AM services. Mexico is said to be evaluating both DRM and Ibiquity's HD specifications and performance before making any formal policy decisions concerning MW domestic IBOC digital broadcasting.
According to Doug Garlinger, president of the NASB, the conference was scheduled in Mexico City after rejecting Miami as a potential venue due to U.S. Visa restrictions on attendees from some of the HFCC's member nations. Garlinger noted that the conference has only been held in the America's twice before, the first being in Mexico City in 1948, and more recently in Montreal.
Those interested in the conference can learn more at: www.hfcc.org "

Latinos In The Industry

Latinos In The Industry: "How Distributors Evaluate Films: NALIP How-To-Lesson #1
Filmmakers are often dismayed when they witness how motion pictures are bought and sold at a market such as AFM or Cannes. Films are often treated like a commodity. The atmosphere is more akin to a fish market than art gallery. Most buyers are bottom-line oriented and spend little time contemplating the artistic merits of a picture. Needing to license a lot of product quickly, they rush from one screening to another like contestants on Supermarket Sweep. They may acquire films on the basis of trailers, posters and cast without viewing the entire movie. Or they may hit the fast forward button and quickly scan scenes that the filmmaker labored over. They may even buy in bulk, purchasing packages of ten or more films. "

Fast Company | Where's the Loyalty?: "Where's the Loyalty?
Do loyalty programs truly engender customer loyalty? Or do customers keep coming back for other reasons?
If only I had a dollar for every time a cashier asked whether I had one of those loyalty cards ... and another buck for every time I answered, 'No.' Hey -- give me 50 cents more each time I'm asked if I want one of their blasted cards (no, again), and two smackers if they ask me for my ZIP code. My phone number? They couldn't afford it."

Robotics Trends :: Robots and Robotics Technology News, Information and Analysis: " A Culture of Robotics

With a leadership position in industrial robotics and consumer electronics, and a longstanding and ingrained Culture of Robotics, Japan is at the vanguard of the first new industry of the 21st century Personal Robotics. This makes Japan a bellwether for the adoption of personal robots, as well as a test bed for marketing and sales initiatives that would drive the adoption of personal robots in the West.
